Identification notes

When sporophytes are present, as they often are, this little Fissidens isn’t too hard to identify – like F. gracilifolius, its very long and narrow perichaetial leaves are distinctive. It likes damper places than that species and may grow on rocks in watercourses. In humid areas in the north and west it’s also often found away from water on hard limestone or sandstone.
