Leader: Andrew Branson
A day at this intriguing area of National Trust wood pasture and chalk downland, tucked away in the hills of central Dorset. The woodlands have some large ash (sadly, some with ash-dieback disease), oak and field maples, as well as hazel and holly scrub. Adjacent is an area of south-facing chalk downland. This seldom visited area produced some nice records during a visit in 2013, including Heterocladium flaccidum (on flint), Microbryum floerkeanum, M. davallianum, Tortella squarrosa, and a good range of epiphytes including the Dorset speciality Neckera smithii.
There is limited parking off the road between Okeford Fitzpaine and Winterborne Stickland (west of Blandford Forum) at the site entrance at ST816084.
