Meeting details
The Avon Gorge is a relatively well bryologised area, but hasn’t been visited recently and not at all by this group (the last recording visit was in 2011, when a group organised by Richard Lansdown explored The Gully). The gorge cuts through a ridge of limestone and is home to some rare flora and fauna; you can read more about it here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avon_Gorge.
The east side of the gorge is in the vice-county of West Gloucestershire and we plan to repeat the 2011 visit to The Gully. Meet along the Circular Road (where there is roadside parking) at 10.30am. If you are planning to attend, please contact Pete or Claire and we will confirm the exact meeting place before Sunday. Walking boots are recommended as the terrain is steep and stony.
