Meeting details
For our next excursion, we are going to Rummers Lane Orchard, by Wisbech St Mary, in the far north of the county. Grid ref TF410075. Postcode PE13 4SE. Meet at 11 a.m.
This is probably the best-known orchard in Cambridgeshire. We have met here previously, first on 18 December 1999 and then on the 2nd November 2014. The late Robin Stevenson, formerly our chief expert on orchard bryophytes, also went here in May 2004, when he found Sanionia uncinata, new to Cambridgeshire.
We have permission from David Wheatley of Willock Farm, who now manages the orchard. David says we have permission to park in his farm, which is first on the right as you go down Rummers Lane from the Bridge Inn pub in Wisbech St Mary.
