Meeting details
Come and explore the mosses and liverworts of Hampstead Heath in London on National Moss Day. The 150 species recorded from the Heath range from diverse epiphytes, courtesy of the Clean Air Acts, 1956 and 1968, to several species of the bog moss Sphagnum if you know where to look, and plenty of other habitats from walls to bare soil to stream banks. We will meet at Hampstead tube station entrance (Northern Line) at 10am on Saturday 21st October and walk through the Heath, ending up at Kenwood House at around 1pm. Everyone is welcome and some of the newly formed London Bryophyte Group will be there so it’s a good opportunity to meet up.
